What’s been happening… Not a whole lot to write home about from Ashburton races last week. Last Horrah had a tough run first up caught off the track and Don’t Lie To Me didn’t figure in the finish. Colette found the line late over 1200m. Trials yesterday at Ashburton produced some good runs with 3yo Miss Penvose showing her improvement with a win over 1000m ears pricked at the line, and Niagara gelding running on for third also over 1000m with plenty still left to learn. At this stage we have 2 runners for the Wingatui meeting on Friday with Devious for the 86 1200m, and Zareeba 71 1400m. Both horses have drawn nicely at 2 and 5 respectively and Tina Comignaghi will ride. On the big countdown to Spring now and the days are certainly getting longer so fingers crossed the rest of Winter is kind to us and we can kick on with Spring racing!
