What’s been happening… Just the one runner at Ashburton last week in Elizabeth Rose. She was fresh up over 1200m and restrained from a wideish barrier to near the rear of the field before commencing a solid finish for second place. After a while away from the race track it was exciting to see her let down as she did. This filly will be our sole runner at Timaru tomorrow and again to start over 1200m. With Sam suspended we have Kavish Chowdhoory in the saddle who claims a kilo off and is riding in good form. This week we have an unusually dry surface for nearing the end of May. It’s a good 2! For this reason we have to take out Lapis Lazuli who really wants rain affected ground so will sit and wait with her. Good luck to Valachi Downs! As the synthetic track here at Riccarton nears closer to completion the inaugural polytrack race day at Cambridge Raceway is happening today. A historic day for NZ racing.
