We’ve been really busy at home with a full team of horses in work, plenty of youngsters learning the ropes, and the racing team building up to start heading back to the trials and races. The new poly track has proved to be a great option for fast and slow work alike, and still await the new gallop grass to open in the near future. After the initial first 3 days of lockdown we commenced work as normal as all tracks were open with races still scheduled as soon as we were lifted a level. A huge thanks to our staff for working through the lockdown. This level lift saw us head back to a closed door meeting at Ashburton yesterday on a slow surface with one runner and this was the beginning of our season. Blindspott certainly appreciated the better footing than her previous start and put in a really gutsy run to win the 65 1200m. Rohan Mudhoo rode nicely and got the best out of the mare when it counted. We head back to Ashburton again on Monday for the transferred Riccarton meeting and have two horses nominated for it. Petty’s Legacy for the 65 1200m, and Ponsardin mdn 1400m. Both horses put up solid performances at the trials heading into this meeting.
We were thrilled for the connections of this Dalghar mare out of Rosearia to collect her first win in the South making it 2 from 10 starts. A lovely trip from the draw and a strong urging from Rohan the last 100m to produce the result. A great photo finish showing her determination. Congratulations!
