The spotlight is certainly on Petty’s Legacy collecting win number three this campaign at Riccarton last Friday. Under Kavish Chowdhoory she trailed the leader, peeled off the rail and made her run up centre track with a kick clear to the line by half a length in the 74 1400m. Kudos de Sothys finished into 5th place over 1600m and is searching for more ground, Scala Sancta tried to over do things early in her run and it was not her day, and Laphroaig pulled a front plate at some stage during the race but kept giving to come in 5th.

It was great to have some kind of normalcy at the races with no masks and the freedom to interact with everyone but the new mandates brought in by NZTR have added another blow as now those staff that do not wish to be vaccinated are to be without jobs by this coming Monday. This puts a huge strain on everyone including ourselves having to try to fill positions in an extremely short time period. If it’s not one things it’s another, but we must push on and although no racing for us this weekend we have a team of 6 to head to Ashburton next Thursday!   Have a lovely weekend.

She loves her job and shows true determination each time she steps out onto the race track. Four wins now to her name, and three this season has earned this mare a crack at a black type race at the end of the month. Petty’s Legacy is now working towards the Timaru Cup over 1600m on December 28th.
