Recap,

Not the nicest day weather wise at the Ashburton races on Saturday with horrendous winds bringing the races to a halt after the running of the third on the card. We did however have some great results out of that with smart filly Quintabelle showing her class to win the mdn 1600m with a blistering turn of foot under Krishna Mudhoo. Also in that race El Chapeau came into 4th place with Niranjan Parmer in the saddle. Iffididit was on the back up fresh off his maiden win and was unlucky not to get into clear air sooner but another solid effort for 3rd in the 65 1400m. We headed back to Ashburton on Monday for the rescheduled meeting andPierrogrine impressed on debut in the mdn 1200m with an encouraging run to the line for 3rd, Petty’s Legacy gave a real sight for 4th in the open 1200m after a lengthy time on the sidelines, Second Thought found herself handy in the running of the Ashburton Cup and fought on superbly for 2nd place and Warning Signal in for 6th in the Group 3 3yo 1400m after holding her breath up the straight. We were thrilled to claim another winner for the meeting in Betty Spaghetti for the main 65 1400m event. A tough effort and gritty win with Samantha Wynne aboard.

Coming up,

We trip back to Ashburton this Sunday with 8 runners for the card. In the mdn 1600m we have Mister Goldie, Joybells and Justify That. A tough race for all as the three of them have been cast a wide barrier. Into the mdn 1400m is Lady Flojo stepping up in trip this week and a good gate of 6, and The Seamstress who awaits a start on the ballot. Race 5 is the mdn 1200m and we have Annia Aurelia and Tetbury both at their second starts, and finally Kikimora to line up in the 65 1200m from a wider gate. Congratulations to all owners for results over the split Ashburton meeting and good luck to those racing this weekend.

Robert Dennis Racing Double

Quintabelle

Our 3yo Embellish filly certainly got tongues wagging with her performance on Saturday. A back half of the field run and away on the rail it was a patient ride from Krishna and when things opened up for an inside run he popped her the question and she answered accordingly. She is tracking well in her 3yo campaign and holds a nomination for the 1000 Guineas.

Betty Spaghetti

She really does love her job this mare, and it was a tough effort doing work early from the gate to position up, then a determined effort up the straight to score. Betty has now had 9 starts for 2 wins, 3 seconds and a third.

Congratulations to both horses connections and also thank you to Robert Dennis for providing us with these horses to train.
