Recap,

A mixed bag of a day for the team last Saturday at Riccarton with Pheroz Friends unfairly late scratched at the start and our beautiful Beau Rouge retiring from the racing scene and destined for a wonderful career in the equestrian world. Second Thought coped a slow paced race but flew home strongly for 4th over 1800m, and Kudos de Sothys also in for 4th placing at 1600m now searching for more ground. Our stakes runners were exciting with Blue Solitaire with a solid 5th in the War Decree Stakes, probably should have run into the minors just being held at the top of the straight, but we were happy with her efforts. Absolute standout of the day was to our resident Queen Elizabeth Rose taking out the Listed Sothys Spring Classic with tremendous courage in the hands of Kavish Chowdhoory.

Ashburton Sunday,

We head to Ashburton this weekend with a good team of horses for the day. Beginning race one is Pheroz Friends for the mdn 1600m, along with Madame Giselle and both these fillies are having their first look at the distance. Onto the mdn 3yo 1200m with three runners in Bolshoi Star with a solid 2nd last start, Mister Goldie who was caught in the Wingatui abandonment late last week, and first starter Betty Spaghetti who debuted at the trials on the 18th and looks to be a lovely filly in the making. Down to the first of the 65 1400mwith Perfectly Suited looking to recapture her form, and following is Stan With Me also for a 65 1400m. In the last on the card we see Petty’s Legacy second up in the 75 1400m. She had a tough run last start, but drawn well for Sunday at gate 5 and has the services of our apprentice Gee Saejorhor who won on her at the trials, and brings a decent weight relief of 4kg. All the very best to Gee!

Good luck to our connections running on Sunday as we work our way into Cup Week 2022!

Elizabeth Rose

We couldn’t be prouder of Elizabeth Rose with an absolute stella win in the 2000m event and wrapt to pick up her first black type win. A good gate allowed for a lovely handy spot in the running and she travelled sweetly throughout. A moment’s wait to gain a clear run then she unleashed with a strong kick to hold off her rival. Huge congratulations to her wonderful group of owners.

Petty’s Legacy

This tough mare has trained on very nicely since her fresh up run and will get a kinder trip on Sunday with a decent gate. She loves the 1400m distance and course as well. This race is a stepping stone on the path to Cup Week where she will look to contest the Valachi Downs Canterbury Breeders Stakes!
