Recap,

The team went so well last Saturday at Riccarton producing some lovely results. Things got off to a brilliant start in race one with Blue Solitaire picking up her maiden win over 1400m in the hands of Sam Wynne. Kikimora in for 2nd place in race 2, along with Madame Giselle for 4th, both very good runs. Beau Rouge was awkwardly away but made up good ground the last 200m, and in the last on the card Second Thought and Elizabeth Rose ran 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 75 1600m. It was great to see such encouraging performances early in the season.

Onto Timaru tomorrow and unfortunately the polar blast struck which has resulted in a few scratching’s over the the day for us with the now wet heavy 9 track. We are starting in race one with Pheroz Friends mdn 3yo 1200m. Not a lot went her way in her first start so having drawn out a bit tomorrow may be a blessing. Race 3 and we have Count Nico for the mdn 1200m. Hoping he appreciates the softer footing and has also drawn out a bit, then Ugo for the 65 1600m. This horse won his maiden at Timaru over the mile on a heavy track so would be wonderful to see some dejavu there!

All the very best to connections running.

Blue Solitaire

This 3yo Almanzor filly out of Savabeel mare Princess Saphire went bang in the maiden 1400m at Riccarton on Saturday. Following a luckless run in the Canterbury Belle she took luck out of the equation getting off the rail in a muddly run race, pulling into the clear and putting the hammer down to draw away from the field to win by nearly 2 lengths.A great sight to see so congratulations to Valachi Downs on the win!
