Recap,

What a Cup Week. We are beyond proud of the horses, and staff bringing their best to the compete against the best. Saturday began brilliantly with Ugo in the 65 1400m and Daniel Stackhouse in the saddle. A good positive ride and from the 2 gate and he knew exactly where he wanted to be to present for a run. A good solid gallop to the line to grab the win by a long neck. Following that was the abandonment after race 3 so that had the plan going a little differently now waiting for the Monday.

Monday, A superb result for Valachi Downs in the Barneswood Farms 1000 Guineas with Blue Solitaire giving an almighty effort for 3rd place and Kikimora just not settling in the run after the delayed start and twice into the gates, but she stuck on for 6th. Second Thought followed in race 4 the 85 2500m, and a near perfect ride from Michael McNabwith a car park draw of 17 he settled her toward the tail of the field then inched his way up the inside saving ground and everything opened up for her to run through. A top effort from the horse to kick home strongly for a close 3rd place after backing up from her win over 2000m on the first day.

We would like to thank everyone for their support leading into the week and during the week, we hope you all had an enjoyable time, barring the abandonment but you should all be very proud of your horses, as are we!

Second Thought

A very comfortable win for this mare on day one of the carnival in the hands of Michael McNab and he partnered her again on Cup Day with a bold effort for 3rd in the 2500m race. She is maturing into a wonderful staying type.

Blue Solitaire

Our Almanzor filly out of Savabeel mare Princess Sapphire has added valuable black type with an exciting third place in the prestigious Group 1 1000 Guineas. We are very proud of this filly and extend our congratulations to Valachi Downs.
